Local Procurement: Buffalo Food Merchants

0

Entrepreneur Rick Fichesen, owner of Kissed By The Sun Spices, opened a new brick and mortar in 4558 Bailey, across from Whole Foods. The Fichezen business, Buffalo Artisan Food Traders, is unique in terms of the products it contains. Everything in the market is made by local manufacturers and cleaners.

Over the years, such “local shopping” campaigns have been seen mostly online, in farmers ’markets, and even the movement has been seen in WNY grocery stores. But The Art Buffalo Artisan retailer is considered to be the first complete flea shop dedicated to the source and sale of locally produced food products.

The opening of Buffalo’s food retailers is a response to the struggles of small local producers during the pandemic. Due to the small number of people participating in the farm markets, pop-ups, etc., sales for many producers are declining.

We combined our efforts and the first local grocery store WNY was born. The menu includes more than 30 flavors of pie, more than 40 flavors of cheese, 20 flavors of popcorn, spices, butter, mustard, cucumber, jelly, coffee, tea, seafood, chocolate and more. Even a dog makes presents! And all of the products here at WNY are manufactured by family businesses. We’ll also make almost everything available online, as well as through FREE LOCAL DELIVERY within 15 miles of our store – it covers the entire Buffalo so people can deliver all their favorites. “

The opening of this market is an important thing for small local food producers who need all the support of the community. If this place becomes a big success Fichezen and his other colleagues would do well to see additional places open in other parts of the city in the future. This type of business, in my opinion, would be perfectly appropriate in Canalside.
