Ginger kits support Kevin’s ‘House Cookie Room’

Kevin Hotel Buffalo (KGH) is celebrating its 50th anniversary as an organization that helps to comfort those who are struggling with adversity. KGH offers families struggling with cancer-related illnesses access to affordable short-term housing near the medical campus. Over the years, there has been numerous expansion at KGH, which has become a kind of campus for itself (see more).

Meanwhile, fundraising is underway to provide affordable housing and hot meals for patients and their families receiving treatment. With traditional fundraising efforts being halted due to the pandemic, an effort is being made to raise $ 5,000 to cover the cost of one of the guest rooms for the entire 2021 period. This is done by selling sets of gingerbread cookies.

“The Kevin Hotel is a wonderful resource in downtown Buffalo that provides a cheap place to call and hot meals for patients and their families traveling for medical care,” explained Andrea Tarshus in Buffalo, which helps in the organization of fundraising. “People are looking for ways to get their money back, especially during the holidays, but many are reluctant to take their time because of security concerns. We have also set up a Cookie Room charity to help find a safe way to differentiate people and have fun. The concept is really sweet (plan provided!) Because people eat cookies, decorate cookies and get gift cookies, and KGH guests from the hotel, which is fully paid for the entire 2021 year, are affectionately referred to as ‘Room Cookies’. ‘We will also place it in the cookie-themed decoration. “

To get things done, Glutenless Buffalo has been put together with two baking wheels to help with baking the kits.

“The two wheels have an invaluable story to tell,” Tarshus said. “The original bakery and cafe, which was one of the first favorite allergen establishments in Buffalo, burned. Their great return in Grant Street 1006 was scheduled for a week before the pandemic began and everything was shut down. “

Now, the two wheels are back in business and to help where possible, like Glutenless Buffalo.

“At GlutenlessBuffalo, we believe that a strategic partnership in the community can be an incredibly powerful way to help small businesses in today’s challenging economic environment,” Tarshus said. “So we’ve partnered with some other local women’s businesses, a two-wheeled bakery, Buffalo’s daughter baking bread, and Tarshus law firm, to help raise funds. Using each of our platforms, we can maximize interest and awareness about Kevin Guest House, encourage a few small businesses, and spread a festive joy in the process. ”

Now, Tarshish and friends are asking for help from the community. It’s as easy as buying a set of ginger, and the proceeds go to charity.

“Once we reach our goal, we will donate one of the KGH rooms as a‘ Cookies Room ’and decorate it with an interesting decoration of cookies, including a cookie sheet, a lamp and a clock,” Tarshus added. “It will be a fun atmosphere for the guest to relax and gives KGH a light sigh of relief as the New Year approaches.”

Purchase ginger kits to help raise funds: (From the drop down, select “Ginger Bundles”). The kits are $ 15 each and come with ½ dozens of cookies, colorful treats and decorations, are convenient for allergens and make great gifts for your customers! $ 5 from each package will be donated to the cookie room.
